Meet the Designer
Hello! I’m Ava, the designer and founder behind the woman-owned brand Figures Skate Boutique. I started out by making unique one-of-a-kind costumes for myself, and eventually began making them for other skaters. My background in Visual Arts & Design is what drives my passion to create costumes that feel special to each individual. I hand make everything from the initial sketches to the finished product. I’ve had the absolute joy of designing costumes for members of Team USA, Junior Grand Prix competitors, and ISU International skaters.

Behind the Sparkle
Ever since I was young, I always had a strong interest in creative projects like drawing and sewing. Constantly making doll clothing, accessories, and even outfits to wear to concerts. I followed this passion all the way to school for a degree in Visual Arts & Design.
A large part of my degree required students to work with all media types. Learning about printmaking, sculpture, photography/videography, painting, UX/UI, and much more. I have applied that knowledge to various aspects of my business. Everything from my products down to the tags on each item is completely handmade.
That is also why I became interested in making other items like skating pants, tops, gloves, mesh tights, and even hair accessories. I love the unlimited creative possibilities there are when it comes to making you own pieces.

Skates & Sequins
I started out by making costumes for myself. Eventually it grew into the small business it has become today. Unlike most competitive figure skaters, I did not start ice skating until I was an adult. At the time, I noticed that there were not many unique competition dresses available on the market for older skaters. Most options available were sold in children sizes. This was the driving force to creating my very first skating costume.
As time grew on, I started to accept small orders here and there for custom designs. Each project was a unique challenge that I throughly enjoyed. I try to think of each costume as an individual piece of art. I want this to be something no other skater has that makes it special to the person wearing it.
The biggest reward is watching skaters wear my products. Whether it’s a full costume or a pair of mesh tights, it brings a smile to my face. I truly love what I get to do and I hope we can work together soon ♡
